Required from the Seller

Original Registration Certificate (CR Book)

Ensure the chassis and engine numbers match the physical vehicle.

MTA 6 Form

The 'Application for Transfer.' Must be signed by the registered owner.

MTA 8 Form

The 'Notice of Change of Possession.' Essential for the legal transfer.

Valid Revenue License

Must be active. If expired, you may be liable for back-taxes and fines.

VIC (Vehicle Inspection Certificate)

Required if the vehicle has been modified or recently imported.

Deletion Letter

If the vehicle was previously leased, ensure the bank has provided confirmation it's cleared.

Required for the Buyer

NIC Copies

Clear photocopies of your National Identity Card.

Transfer Fee

Payable at the DMT (Department of Motor Traffic) or a district office.

Insurance Cover Note

You must have insurance in your name to register the transfer.

Fraud Prevention

Never pay a "reservation fee" or "advance payment" before seeing the vehicle and verifying the CR book in person. Always meet in a safe, public place during daylight hours.
